The Volunteer Center at HANCI provides volunteer opportunities through the three AmeriCorps Seniors programs of the Corporation for National & Community Service. Each program empowers adults age 55 and older to help make their community a better place to live through volunteering their time and effort in a variety of capacities.

The benefits of volunteering are countless, and at the Volunteer Center at HANCI, we see these rewards every day. Not only do volunteers make a real difference in the lives of the people they serve, but they also stay active and connected in the community, feel a sense of independence, and gain confidence.

All three programs are committed to serving their community and enriching the lives of older adults.  To find out more information about each program, visit the links below:

  • Senior Companion Program – Unites healthy seniors with homebound seniors who need the warmth and bond of a new friend. A Senior Companion can improve someone’s quality of life simply by being a friend.
  • Foster Grandparent Program – Gives seniors an opportunity to work with children in need. A Foster Grandparent can be a mentor, tutor, caregiver, and role model to a child. In addition, program volunteers make new friends and achieve the satisfaction of helping to shape the future.
  • Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Helps people 55 and older find volunteer opportunities to match their skills and interests. RSVP volunteers are stationed throughout schools, museums, healthcare facilities, community agencies, and government offices.

If you’re 55 or older, the Volunteer Center at HANCI could be a great fit for you. For more information, contact Jennifer Britton at (716)285-8224, ext. 217, or britton@hanci.com.
