The Health Association of Niagara County conducted its annual cookie exchange this week with tremendous success.
Each year, HANCI invites the local community to bake cookies for isolated seniors that are packaged and distributed via the Volunteer Center at HANCI. This year, more than 50 volunteer bakers dropped off their homemade baked goods to the HANCI offices, totaling 1,600 cookies.
These cookies were packed into 400 boxes by Seniors with Amazing Talents, known as the HANCI SWAT team. These caring individuals spend the day hand packing each box while celebrating the giving spirit of the holiday season. Once packed, the boxes are hand delivered to residences, skilled nursing facilities, food panties, and assisted living facilities.
This annual tradition is something that both the community and HANCI staff look forward to each year.
