HANCI - Services - Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program matches individuals age 60 or older with children and youth in classrooms, childcare centers and youth organizations throughout Niagara County.
Since 1972, the Niagara County Foster Grandparent Program has enriched the lives of seniors and the young children they help. Foster Grandparents’ love, understanding, attention and assistance enable children to attain education and personal growth.
The Foster Grandparent Program is sponsored by HANCI and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The Foster Grandparent Program also receives funding from New York State Office for the Aging, United Way of Niagara, Eastern United Way, United Way of the Tonawandas and local contributions.
If you are least 60 years of age, meet certain income eligibility requirements and are willing to volunteer twenty hours a week, we want you to become a Foster Grandparent.
Foster Grandparents receive a tax-free stipend to cover the cost of serving. This stipend is not considered income for any purpose. Foster Grandparents also receive pre-service and monthly training, transportation assistance and supplemental insurance coverage while they are serving.
For more information, contact Christine Sullivan, Director of Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), at csullivan@hanci.com or 716-285-8224.
